Social Responsibility: The IQ Foundation

The IQ Foundation is the corporate social responsibility function of IQ. The Foundation represents the embodiment of IQ’s values, and brings a key element of the Group’s strategy into fruition through active participation in the support of sustainable socio-environmental causes.

Our commitment to being a responsible corporate citizen contributes positively to our people, our communities and our environment. It is important to IQ that we are guided by our core values. We work together with our employees, partners, clients and stakeholders on a daily basis to help create a more sustainable approach to  high-quality learning and performance.

We help build stronger people in our local communities. We help create nurturing working environments. We help deliver the results necessary to improve the world we live in.

Our Approach: Human Nature

The IQ Foundation focuses on undertaking self-sustaining initiatives, falling into two primary categories: human and nature

  • Human: All aspects associated with people, society and art; and
  • Nature: All aspects associated with animals and ecology.

Some of our past projects include:

1. Community Contributions

IQ’s employees regularly participate in initiatives that contribute to and empower disadvantaged communities.

  • The IQ Festive Tree - a day long festive event for approx 400 children orphaned or affected by HIV
  • My Life Camp - a weekend away event for young adults, entirely run and managed by IQ staff - read our blog and watch our video on Youtube
  • Building vegetable tunnels for disadvantages communities
  • Clothing and blanket drives are also held on a regular basis

2. Starfish Greathearts Foundation

Starfish was formed in response to the unfolding tragedy of children orphaned or affected by the HIV/AIDS epidemic in South Africa. Importantly, IQ provides Starfish with all the supporting office infrastructure it requires. IQ is currently working with Starfish on the development of a database for the organisation's orphans, programmes and sponsors.

3. Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT)

IQ’s employees are involved in multiple initiatives relating to wildlife responsibility programmes, including sponsoring events and project involvement. IQ offers its expertise in technology infrastructure and donates reconditioned computers and hardware to EWT.

As part of a commitment to drive corporate social responsibility IQ is making sure it is a company that contributes to its environment.

4. Metro Evangelical Services (MES)

MES is a registered non-profit organisation that has been serving the homeless and destitute community to change the heart of the city of Johannesburg. IQ's employees are involved in MES through initiatives such as the Joshua Project, MES Crèche Children and Corporate Service Days.
