Dirk Ackerman
Chairman and Chief Executive Officer for The IQ Business Group
Dirk Ackerman is Chairman and CEO of the Board for IQ. Dirk has more than 20 years of executive experience in the banking, financial services, property management and development, public utilities, information technology and business consultancy industries.
He serves on numerous boards of blue chip listed and non-listed companies, both locally and internationally, in the public and private sectors. He has a seasoned track record of business success. His diversified career experience positions him ideally to provide leadership coaching and advice on strategic and operational matters to the executives of companies on whose boards he serves.
Dirk has been at the forefront of business empowerment initiatives since the start of his business career, having had the privilege of being able to pioneer major empowerment initiatives in the banking, construction, ICT, state asset management and public utility management fields.
In addition to Dirk’s commercial experience, he has been an active member of the Institute of Directors, a trustee on the Endangered Wildlife Trust, a founder member of the South African Tourism Business Council and is a member of the Young Presidents’ Organisation.
Pieter van Tonder
Chief Financial Officer for The IQ Business Group
Pieter van Tonder is IQ’s Chief Financial Officer. In addition to serving on the IQ Board, Pieter brings more than 20 years of experience in mergers and acquisitions in various industries. As a Chartered Accountant by profession, he gained extensive experience spending seven years with a leading international accounting firm.
In 1994, he started his commercial career, joining BBR Security Group as Financial Manager and going on to become the Group Financial Officer, Shareholder and Regional Managing Director responsible for Gauteng, after being instrumental in the sale of BBR to SuperGroup. He, together with the Board, grew the business organically and through an aggressive acquisition and merger strategy, built a substantial national business within the SuperGroup stable.
In early 2000, Pieter accepted a position as Group Chief Financial Officer of The IQ Business Group, a dynamic, fast-growing, process-focused consulting firm expanding rapidly in the local and international market. He serves on various local and international boards in Africa, the United States, Australia and the United Kingdom. Pieter continues to apply his vast knowledge of mergers and acquisitions, as well as extensive experience and understanding of good corporate governance principles and all matters financial.
In addition to his commercial experience, Pieter is an active member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants and the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa.
Adam Craker
Chief Executive Officer, South Africa
Adam Craker is Chief Executive Officer of IQ South Africa and an Executive Board member of The IQ Business Group.
Adam has more than twenty-two years experience in the Supply Chain, Technology Services, Consulting and Utility industries in South Africa, Europe the USA and Asia. His experience comprises ten years in corporate and executive director positions, ten years in consulting and two years in consumer and industrial marketing.
Adam gained his MBA from IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland in 1996 and previously graduated in 1989 from the University of Warwick in the UK with a B.Sc. (First Class) in Management and Computer Science. He has also gained the Diploma in Marketing Studies (Dip.M.) from the Chartered Institute of Marketing and is now a Member (MCIM). Adam is an active member of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and the Young Presidents Organisation (YPO).
Michael D Beck
Chief Executive Officer, North America
Michael D Beck is President and Chief Executive Officer, North America, for IQ. In addition to being an Executive on the Board of Directors, Mike leads the North American Operations for IQ, formulating and executing long-term strategies, with responsibility for all interactions with clients, employees, investors and other stakeholders. With more than 20 years of both private and public sector technology sales and services leadership experience, Mike’s solid reputation for building and leading successful multi-disciplinary teams will offer our clients the competitive edge to stay ahead in this complex environment.
Prior to becoming President and CEO for IQ in 2008, he was Senior Vice President of CGS Redmond Technologies with overall management responsibility for the company’s technology sales and services. In 2003, Mike was President and CEO of Trusted Edge Inc, a software company providing solutions for information lifecycle management that was sold to FileTek in 2007.
Mike was previously Chief Operating Officer of Dimension Data North America, a $500 million revenue division of the technology product and services company. He joined Dimension Data through acquisition of Proxicom, a $225 million revenue global technology consulting firm. In his role as COO and EVP of Client Services and a member of the Executive Committee, Mike and his team led the transition of Proxicom from a private to a publicly held company. During his tenure at Proxicom he was responsible for the establishment of vertical industry practices and oversaw all aspects of sales and service delivery. Mike was one of the original managers at Proxicom, a company that over a five-year period grew to more than 1 200 employees and was recognised as one of the true successes of the early internet wave.
In addition to Mike’s commercial experience, he serves on the board of the Starlight Children’s Foundation – Mid-Atlantic.
Graham Sammells
Chief Executive Officer, Australia
Graham Sammells is Chief Executive Officer for IQ Australia. In addition to being an Executive on the Board of Directors, Graham leads the Australian Operations for IQ, formulating and executing long-term strategies, with responsibility for all interactions with clients, employees, investors and other stakeholders.
Graham has a strong blend of business and IT delivery experience in the superannuation industry, as well as the broader financial services. He became CEO in September 2006 and is responsible for all aspects of IQ Australia’s operations. Prior to this, he was part-owner and General Manager of K1 Pacific, a consulting firm acquired by IQ. At Prism Solutions, he managed data warehousing for six years. Like many in the superannuation industry, he acquired six years’ experience at the old National Mutual in Corporate Super.
Graham holds an Economics Degree, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment, and is a Member of the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
